I guess the kids got to do a LOT more camping this summer compared to last year.
Shaelyn was a youth leader at girl's camp this year, and they got to spend a few days up at Camp Hycliff with the young women from our church.
There are some brave girls in that group who don't mind picking up a lizard!
Shaelyn got to let her silly side out.
They didn't get much sleep, so she was ready for a nap when she got home.
That was enough camping for Shaelyn, so she opted out of going to military kids camp with Chelsea and Jacob, but this year Dad got to go with them!
They took a long bus ride up to Coeur d'Alene and stayed at Twinlow Camp and Retreat Center.
The theme for the week was "Not all heroes wear capes" so they had a lot of fun superhero dress-up days.
Dad was a chaperone, so he got to get in on some of the fun.
One of their activities was to write a speech about a product they would endorse, and Chelsea's was very well written so they let her stand up and give her speech about Jergens body lotion.
They played a lot of nine square, even in the rain!
And the rest of the week was full of fun team-building activities.
They had a lot of fun out on the water with kayaks and floaties.
We are really grateful for these summer camps that are sponsored by the military for our children. They endure a lot more than we realized when it comes to supporting Dad's service to our country. They will cherish these memories forever.
