Mountains and Friends

We haven't spend much time at our property in Cascade this year. We came for the 4th of July, but we thought we had better make one more trip up there before winter comes. So we invited our friends, The Nielsen's, to join us for an overnighter in the mountains.
What are we staring at? There was another Solar Eclipse this weekend (last one was six years ago) and it was pretty cool to watch with our special sun shades.
We played games and watched a movie, and the boys camped in a tent on the porch while the girls slept in the living room. We cooked a big breakfast and then went for a short hike near the lake.
It's fun watching these kids grow up together.
Erik is pretty good at a lot of things, but I don't know if he'll be able to master the Karate Kid kick.
And here's an awkward reenactment of Shaelyn and Jacob doing the Titanic scene.
During our hike, we found an interesting squirrel apartment complex
Chelsea picked a collection of beautiful wild flowers.
And we had just enough time to take a quick four-wheeler ride up the mountain to see the fall colors!
I love that we have a home away from home where we can go to enjoy all the fun things that each season brings.
And it's also fun to share it with our friends.
