There are two sides to celebrating Christmas and Easter that I have conflicting feelings about. While the world wants us to focus on Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and buying outrageous gifts for everyone, the true meaning of these holidays is to celebrate our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I was glad to hear the primary children sing "Gethsemane" at our church Easter breakfast. We could use more "Easter Carols" to help us remember the true meaning of Easter.
Of course some traditions are all about the fun memories, like Dad's favorite Easter basket orange rolls.
And an Easter egg hunt at Grandma's house where the golden egg gets more expensive each year.
"TWENTY DOLLARS!??!"
Don't worry, Jacob is still alive.
So whichever traditions survive, or whatever new traditions are introduced, we hope that our children will remember the true meaning of Easter as we honor the sacrifice and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, and cherish the hope that is given to us as a result of His love.
...Because Hope is definitely worth celebrating.
